{Valley of the Kings}MJM -Valley of the Kings CD review by Wake Lindermere (Toronto News)

Rock lives! Just when I thought strange and lo-fi dance pop was about to take over the world, I received a copy of MJM "Valley of the Kings". The cover itself didn't let on what I might be in for, but it was a pleasant surprise. From the beginning a pumping bass and solid rhythm are matched with some spectacular guitar and clever lyrics delivered from front man Michael J Miller.

This album covers the gamut - from straight ahead rock to sophisticated splashes of unbridled talent. "Rock Machinist", the first track, is the story of a young garage band on the road to stardom, who discover some trials and tribulations along the way. "Party Doll" is a tongue in cheek look at today's wild girls with an AC/DC like touch. Woman from Venus is kind of a rock- Santana style track smartly addressing a taboo interplanetary affair between the god of love and the god of war. The title track "Valley of the Kings", is a remarkably sonic portrayal of the life and death of I believe King Tut, although they never speak his name. But hang onto your head! It may just start banging when "Dogs of War" kicks in. This piece skillfully demonstrates another twist on the art of war. "Power of Life" is an extension of the Egyptian theme with cool instrumentation and a solo and ending that leaves you begging for more. "Black eyed Susan morphs acoustic and slide guitars with a vocal and style reminiscent of Guns 'n' Roses in their glory days.

Complete with melodic guitar instrumentals and more, MJM "Valley of the Kings" is a must have for any rock enthusiast.
